My family and I just came back from a free and easy trip to South Korea. Besides Seoul, we also visited Jeju Island. We had allocated two and a half days to tour Jeju. It is a beautiful place, with great scenery and lots of attractions. If you plan on visiting Jeju on your own, you definitely need a local taxi tour guide. He will help you plan your itinerary, brings you to the various destinations, and most importantly acts as a liaison between you and the locals. We are thankful that we had engaged the service of Mr Lee Hong Min. This was an important and best decision that we had made before the trip.

Mr Lee is a sincere and fun person. He speaks English, which may not sound fluent sometimes, but he makes up for this with patience and listening attentively. He would make sure everyone in the group from the elderly to the kids were well taken care of. He would get the best admission fees for us at the attractions if available. Our wonderful journey started the moment we met him at Jeju Airport.

He had already drawn up a preliminary itinerary based on the list of places which we had emailed him. We would discuss and then confirm the places which we would go. Along the trip, he would also suggest some good places to visit. For example, he suggested tangerine picking because the tangerines taste sweetest around this time of the year.

For a small entrance fees into the orchard, we clipped tangerines off the trees and ate to our heart’s content with a view of Mount Hallasan in the distance. We rode Jeju horses nearby Sunrise Peak, fooled around in Alive Museum, checking out Dongmun traditional market. This is also the first time we rode ATV and taken a submarine down to the depths of the sea.

On hindsight, we should have spent an additional one to two days in Jeju, but we still felt good that we had done so much in so little time. We are very satisfied with the service Mr Lee had provided, definitely will request for him if we return to Jeju, and his warm gestures will be remembered for a very long time.
